Circular CO₂: the missing link in Europe's climate policy
Most people don’t know that carbon capture can be circular, but it can, and it’s a game-changer.
That’s why we’ve joined forces with Carbyon, Skytree (Direct Air Capture) and Paebbl (Carbon Utilisation and Repurposing) to launch a coalition of pioneering DAC/DOC start-ups united by one mission: to close the loop of circular CO₂. And what better ways to kick things off than Brussels?
Over two intense days, we presented our policy paper and met with key European policymakers to show how Direct Air Capture (DAC) and Direct Ocean Capture (DOC) technologies can help deliver on Europe’s climate ambitions.
We had insightful exchanges with:
Member of the European Parliament Jeannette Baljeu, who echoed our call to put innovation and cleantech at the core of Europe’s industrial policy.
Marthe Huigsloot, Henk Snoeken & julia krispijn of the Permanent Representation of the Netherlands to the EU, discussing how to integrate our technologies into the EU Emissions Trading System and secure future support from the post-2027 EU budget.
Head of Wopke Hoekstra’s Cabinet Han ten Broeke and DG CLIMA, underlining the need to link up- and downstream CO₂ use and give DAC/DOC the policy spotlight it deserves.
And finally, Daniel Mes and nicolas guez-loussouarn from ursula von der leyen’s Task Force on Competitiveness, where we stressed the urgency of helping European start- and scale-ups bridge the critical commercialisation phase.
Our thoughts? This visit was more than advocacy; it was about shaping the future of Europe’s carbon management system.
A big thanks to our partners at PublyonEU for making this mission a success and ensuring we could focus on what matters most: accelerating climate innovation.
