Mark Rutte: ‘Diepe buiging voor de wetenschap’
This week, we presented SeaO₂ 's ocean CDR technology and our scientific research that led to it to the prime minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte and Robbert Dijkgraaf the Minister of Education, Culture and Science of the Netherlands.
Ocean CDR is in early stage but has the potential of reaching giga tonne scale carbon removal, enabling Netzero by 2050.

‘Waanzinnig om te zien hoeveel talent we in de Nederlandse wetenschap hebben. We staan internationaal fantastisch op de kaart dankzij alle mensen die bij dit soort organisaties werken.’ Demissionair premier Mark Rutte zei dat maandagmiddag tijdens een werkbezoek aan NWO-instituut SRON.
Rutte bezocht het Nederlandse instituut voor ruimteonderzoek samen met wetenschapsminister Robbert Dijkgraaf. Die toonde zich na afloop ‘supertrots om dit geweldige instituut te laten zien aan onze minister-president. Ik vond het vooral heel leuk dat we zo’n breed spectrum te zien kregen van het wetenschappelijk onderzoek dat in Nederland plaatsvindt.’
“Maar tegelijkertijd kregen we ook hele concrete dingen te zien, zoals hoe we CO2 uit zeewater kunnen halen” Daarover had hij gesproken met Rose Sharifian (Faculty of Impact), die met haar start-up SeaO₂ werkt aan het verwijderen en opslaan van CO2 uit oceanen..”
