The logic behind concentrating PV technology resides in the assumption that PV crystals are expensive. Therefore, do more with less and concentrate sunlit on those crystals using mirrors or lenses. Trouble with the theory is that PV crystals aren't that expensive anymore and a lot of CPV companies folded. Nonetheless, with higher energy densities comes higher energy conversion efficiencies - and a heat problem.
